Liberty Sailing Club offers numerous opportunities for cruising and social sailing weekly and throughout the entire sailing season. It's the perfect time to try a new position on the boat or just enjoy the breeze and take in the scenery. Aspiring skippers may want to practice their skills. Sometimes we do informal racing using the government buoys (no race committee).
Members may bring a guest (up to 2 times per guest), but please consult with the event coordinator in advance to make sure there is room.
Weekly Cruising Schedule:
Tuesday: Tuesday evenings are a regular weekday evening sail from mid April through September, but may continue into Fall as the sun allows. Meet at the docks between 5:15 and 5:30pm.
Friday: Occasionally we offer Friday evening cruising from 5:30 until sunset through September, continuing into Fall as the sun allows. Meet at the docks between 5:15 and 5:30pm.
Saturday: Saturday afternoon cruising at 1pm for about 3 hours. Sometimes shifted to morning or late afternoon during the high heat of summer. Held April through September, but continues through early November as weather permits.
Sunday: Sunday afternoon cruising at 1pm for about 3 hours. Sometimes shifted to morning or late afternoon during the high heat of summer. Held April through September, but continues through early November as weather permits.
Frostbite: As the daylight hours fade, we engage in Cruising or Light Racing on Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons for about 3 hours from early September until early November. Boats can choose whether to race each other (no committee) or cruise that day. Weekday sailing subsides as the sun sets early, however some skippers decide to add daytime sails when they wish to, and the conditions are good.
