Skipper Qualifications at Liberty Sailing Club
Becoming a Skipper
Experienced sailors who can prove sufficient on-the-water experience in handling a J27, or a similar boat, in varying wind and weather conditions, and have obtained an ASA Coastal Cruising certification, can join or upgrade to a Skipper Membership.
To become a Skipper you must take an on-the-water test with a flag officer. Racing skippers must take a racing rules test. Skippers can helm boats during racing and sign boats out for cruising.
